Heads up for anyone who's been thinking about picking up an M&P Shield, S&W is offering a $50 rebate. Looks like it's good on the 9mm and .380 EZ Details here:

I bought 2 Shields before the 2.0 was released. One had a big rebate, and the second rebate had extra mags, ammo, and a loader sent from SW.
I dont know if the 2.0 version is worth an upgrade, but I am thinking about it. I read the triggers are much better. For a carry pistol, I really like the Shield.

You would have thought that with the general softness of the market over the past year, that S&W would've scaled back production enough not to get caught in this situation.
FYI--for anyone planning on getting the 380EZ, it's not a high mileage gun.

I was thinking of a 380EZ for the wife as a range plinker because she is not very strong to pull back the slide. Amazingly she has stress to pull back the original 380 bodyguard.
So what is the reason the EZ breaks? Too much slide momentum?

I'll ask the gunsmith Tuesday. I know the ones in the rental program are always having problems. Too many of our counter people use them as the default sale for women shooters instead of showing them the "push/pull" method of slide racking. Kids don't know anything about guns but work cheap...

Bought a 380 EZ Shield for my daughter who had trouble racking the slide or even loading the magazines for a Glock 26. She loves it and shoots it well. She hasn’t put a ton of shells through it and probably won’t but I feel better with her having something she can handle and likes to shoot. She has confidence in it and it gives a dad a good feeling knowing his good looking daughter has some protection.

Best bang for the buck kinda deal right there!

It's $199 at Palmetto with the rebate.

183 after rebate at Cabela's here.

Mine in 40S&W is my least favorite handgun to shoot. The trigger is horrible. Tempted to pick up a 9... but doubt I will.

I talked to him this morning and he said that it's little, irritating stuff. The grip safety breaks or the slide stop spring breaks. Just little, annoying things. Most females don't need the EZ. Five minutes showing them the push/pull overhand technique and almost all women can rack the slide of most handguns. There are a few with bad arthritis but most just have to get out of the "I'm just a weak, little girl" mindset.
