Note, the name of the recipe is misleading; this is a far cry from "real southern" cornbread. The author apparently wouldn't know real southern cornbread from a pop tart. But, the recipe is a really tasty homemade rendition of Jiffy - slightly sweet, moist and cakey. I cut the sugar called for in it down to one tablespoon, and that is plenty for us. I never said Jiffy was the best flavor, etc., it's just cheap and very handy.
