Won this on GunBroker.. Just curious what model it was to start with or maybe still is.

-Remington 700 LA
-Remington branded composite stock.
-What I think is a Kwik Klip magazine set-up.
-26" thin barrel ported.
-Marked 6.5x284 Win

Weight is 7lbs with empty magazine.

Thanks in advance,
Kent

Kinda what I figured. Would the stock be B&C from Remington?

I like the set-up. Kwik-Klip will be swapped out asap for BDL metal. If it shoots it should be a nice Coues gun.

SO....you bought a rifle and didn't know what it was? Interesting concept.

.

Yeah, poorly listed items on GB are the most fun. It clearly wasn't a tupperware stock, it had a VX-2 4-12 with a "Premier" reticle and it was a caliber I wanted. Felt pretty safe that I could easily sell the pieces for the cost if it was a POS.

New photo link should work, sorry about that.

Choate made the "Rynite" synthetic stocks for the 700 RS and Lee Six Industries made the "Arylon" synthetic stocks for the 700 AS back in the late 1989's and early 1990's.

The Rynite stocks were injection molded with a rough/pebble texture, while the Arylon stocks had a smooth finish and seemed harder/stiffer, maybe more rigid, than the typical injection molded stock. From the picture, your stock looks more like an Arylon stock than it does a Rynite stock.

Thanks for the stock info.

Added some pics of the stock without the action in it to the album.

Mine doesn't seem to have that injection swirl to it. Lines look the same though.

Yes. That "grip cap" is 700 AS looking to me. Pillars added? I think RS is dandy. AS is too fragile.

The only AS stock I've messed with. It broke you see...

Slightly modified RS stock with a 721 BA. A dandy stiff stock, what, like 32 years later...

I think i'd gone $300 on the GB unit.

Are the AS and RS similar to the stuff Ruger used on their boat paddles? The inside of mine rough like a composite not like the Rugers I have had.

$300 on what GB unit? The whole rifle?

Yes $300, for a donor action, I guess... Looks rode hard to me. They're not a poly stock like the Ruger at all. I do not know the history of my AS before I got it, but snapping at the wrist is pure junk. The plastic Ruger is a solid beast of a stock. My RS is tough but I ain't going to try to snap it. They were experimenting in '87? with new materials, other than wood, the 700 RS, AS, KS came to be then.

If the stock is satisfactory, and one wanted Quik Klip, and the cartridge in an unknown barrel and smithing, paying for what you want is not the same as what I'd value... You know, whatever floats your boat.
