How do fellas get those field photos with the beautiful double gun, the dog, and the grouse with the tail fan all spread out just perfect. I've got the shotgun and dog part figured out, but how do they get that fan to stay spread? smile

Thanks,

Mark

Don't wait until the bird cools or wait until after rigor leaves. That is the key with positioning any dead body.

The above is good advice. Spread the tail and it will come back. Then spread it again and it will come back a little less. Eventually it will take a temporary set.....Rest it on something to help with the hold....

Thanks guys. I get the rigor part. No confusion there. I just thought someone was using a twig or a shot shell in a trick and fancy way. As it turns out I just have to be more patient and keep spreading the fan out and set it up right. smile

I have a flushing Jack Russell dog. Whatever she cost me I saved in ammo long ago. LOL

I've found that you have to start with a classy bird dog and high end shotgun. smile

Ha! Love it!

Those French Bulldogs have character way out of proportion for their size (as do weinerdogs) :-)

I Love this photo!

I had a cast off, found dodging cars on the highway little female dog who was no doubt 1/2 Schnauzer-1/2 Poodle we named Sophie. Sophie was the smartest dog I've ever owned. She was an adult dog and went from gun-terrified to terror on crippled quail.

All dogs contain Hunt. It's there to some measure. This photo made me feel close to Sophie again, even though she's long departed.

I sure thank you for posting it.
