This book is one that will make you angry. It's about the 'Rules' that our soldiers had to fight under in Afghanistan. Where known enemy spies worked in the bases and told their Taliban pals what was going on, and ambushes were set and lives were lost. Where the 'Catch and Release' program for enemy spies and operatives repeatedly put our soldiers' lives on the line and cost them their lives. Where the enemy hides in the civilian population and our troops are held to the laws of armed conflict and of criminal law.
Where the Army heavily redacted the book to do their best to CYA. Etc.

The 'Authors' Note' notes how the Army didn't want this book released and delayed as long as possible. There were multiple redactions that were 'sensitive' in spite of the fact that the items redacted were in the general news.
It's one that any veteran who reads it will probably have a response to. Probably an increase in blood pressure.

I suppose the best way to describe the situation is that it sounds like a lawyer's war. Or maybe a politician's war.

Worth a read.
