Got a pretty nice 10 pointer last week at our farm. About 25 yards, quartering away, arrow went in under last right rib, and exited just inside the left shoulder. Took it with a Tenpoint Venom, using a Muzzy Trocar. Deer ran about 35 yards just out of sight and went down, thrashed for about 30 seconds and expired. Only my second day out in a stand this fall. Shortest bow season ever. Guess turkey are always an option while the wife keeps hunting.

Nicely done! Do you have any doe permits or do you have to wait for rifle season?
They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

I have landowner tags for two bucks (total rifle and bow) and two doe with a bow, plus two doe with a rifle. Where we hunt (couple of counties in Mid-MO) it is not unusual to see 7-10 deer in a morning or an evening hunting session. We have a couple of bucks between our home place and the farm that are nicer than this one. Hope (wife) is focused on them, and we probably won't take a doe unless we strike out and fail to get one of those two guys. Two is usually the goal.

Nice buck and congrats. I’m bow hunting Missouri too and having just the opposite luck. I’ve been out 10-14 times and I’ve seen some does, but nothing within range. Yesterday saw a small buck chasing a doe around for half an hour but once again 50+ yards away.

Saw a really nice buck following a doe shortly after I shot this guy. Just need to be in the right place at the right time. I'm usually not.
