I have a Remington 788 in great shape other than the lug where you mount the trigger with a pin is broken. A smith could probably fix this without a problem. It appears to have been fired very little. This is from an estate and not sure the story. The barrels has some small specs or surface rust that I’m afraid to mess with.
If you want more pictures I can text you some more. Would be a great project starting point. I’ll be upfront and say I’m not sure what this is worth, but open to offers. Would be a great one to rebore to 6.5.
I am helping liquidate a widowers estate so just looking for a fair value. I also have the original stock in excellent shape as well.
With as hard as these are to find bolts for, I think you probably made a mistake separating the bolt if you want to sell the action for anywhere near what it's worth. Just my opinion though. You'd have probably gotten a lot more if you'd kept them together.

I would normally agree with you but right now I was looking at +/-$200 for the entire rifle. As of right now I have $300 in bids for the bolt and stock parts. The stock is up also and have interested parties. So I should end up with over $400 for the parts alone and still have the barrel and action left. I think my best offer for the entire thing was around $150 plus shipping, so I think I made the right choice for the estate
I started out interested and going to make offer, but this has spiraled out of control.
Good luck.
You are telling me.....I volunteered at no profit on my end to sell a garage full of TC barrels, parts, stocks, old ammo, brass, reloading dies, classic stuff all from 70’s and 80’s. Heck I have the 788 owners manual, 1975 magazine with the 788 featured.
In the middle of selling all this stuff that I could on eBay for the mans estate trying to do the best I can for him, I start finding 788 parts. Before long I have a complete 788 he started probably in the 70’s based on the condition of a few things. Just never got around to finishing the project.
The good news is I’m whittling down his stuff, the bad news is I’m in Alaska and have some really cool old ammo and stuff that I can’t sell and ship out of here, even 3 boxes of 256 win mag ammo.

No ammo can ship up here except by barge, it’s a very common problem. There’s a few people that put together large ammo buys once in awhile but even UPS, Amazon prime, usps won’t ship haz stuff through Canada
