So I was just about to order a couple of barrels from PacNor when I heard the news that they had a devastating fire. Which is truly a shame! I need 2 sporter weight barrels in .35 caliber. 1 for a 358 WSM and 1 for a 358 Norma Mag. Both will be stainless. Who do you guys suggest I go with now? Not many.35 cal options out there....
Thanks in advance

I sure could go for some $2.50/gal gas and a mean tweet!

My last one came from Pac-Nor, but if I had to do it again I would go with L-W.

Add Lilja to your list of options.

I put a #5 12 twist Lilja on my 358WSSM and couldn’t be any happier with it.

I have a Shilen on a Remington 700 in .35 Whelen AI. It was a #4 or #5? Can't remember. Had Dave at IT&D turn it down to a Remington mag sporter contour. Shoots like this with the first loads I tried with 250gr hornady's.

I've had 2 35 cal barrels from Douglas. I certainly wouldn't go looking too hard to find another maker.

It is easier to make a good barrel with the larger, 30cal+, bore sizes. Any of the major barrel companies make great hunting barrels.

Worse than bad. Very long story but the short version is, it was the only barrel I ever had to pretzel on me when contouring it. As supplied they are too heavy so a "little" thinning was required. Do this with most brands. Theirs started flopping around on the lathe like a fish out of water at the first light cut. They may have improved the stress relieving of their barrels since, but I never tried another. Too many good barrels to waste my time on another Shaw.

I've had good luck and bad luck with ER Shaw. The bad luck was a long time ago.

I have Shilen and Douglas barrels also. If I were wanting 1/2 MOA I'd probably go with either and get their "premium". If I were building a hunting rifle I'd probably go with ER Shaw especially with the calibers you're talking about.. The last rifle I built was with ER Shaw - a 375 Whelen AI. I only have Iron sights on it, but it's plenty accurate for what I wanted it for. The bore looks excellent. It doesn't foul with copper or lead.

I prefer classic.

Most barrel makers do them. The rub is is you want one cut rifled in a lighter stainless contour. In button rifled you've got Benchmark, Lilja, Hart, etc.
