Well it is definitely a nice gun; well built on a quality (1930's Mauser Oberndorf) action. No idea of the maker. Pretty pricey.

Nice rifle that seems fairly priced. I wonder how the rear scope base is attached?

Others may like it but it doesn't do a thing for me.
These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

Mr. Barnett sells high end guns and has for a long time. He has an excellent reputation. If he says that's a high quality rifle, it's a high quality rifle without question.

Speculation as to the maker?

Beautiful rifle.
One thing that stands out to me is the stock shape. Long open grip and decent drop at the heel along with a lack of irons and a fairly high looking scope mount.
Seems a bit contrary to one another.
Wood is beautiful though.

I have no idea who the maker is, but I'll bet that his initials or his mark could be found if you took the rifle apart. I have a very nice custom Springfield 1922 in .22 Hornet that no one could identify from photos. When I took the stock out of the action, I found the initials GLS stamped inside the stock just in front of the magazine well. With that information, I was able to identify the maker.
I'm pretty sure Mr. Barnett does not disassemble the guns he's selling, many of which are consignments. This one is likely a fairly recent maker, perhaps one who is still active, as he (almost certainly a he and not a she) used Torx or Allen head screws, which are a fairly recent choice in custom rifles. Some real traditionalists still look down on such usage, but they are far less likely to strip out than a standard screw.

Would take far more than the asking price to to duplicate the stock. The stock appears to have a slight concave line to the fore end between the front of the receiver and the fore tip. Appareantly to make for a more slim / petite fore end, keeping with a very thin open wrist. Also noticed what looks like maybe an external adjustment screw for weight of pull just in front of the trigger.
Neat rifle. If it were left hand, would be sorely tempted... Would be curious to know the stock maker if you buy it..

That is a beautiful rifle at a fair price... if I didn't have one just like it I would buy it in a heartbeat

There are about three unmarked customs (2 7X57 and 1 45-70) in this lot. I like the sako 7X57 the best.

This guy appears to really know what he was doing. Some special touches there. I am certainly curious.

Go to the site, click on "all listings by Steve Barnett Fine Guns" to see some really neat guns.
Steve isn't cheap, but really knows quality. As posted earlier, he's a very reputable dealer of long standing.
A gun is what he says it is. You can count on it.

I’m gonna take a guess at least the stock maker and say Joe Balickie. It has some distinct lines that really remind me of my rifle that I have that was built by him on the same action. Mine is marked underneath the grip cap. If that is a Balickie rifle that’s a heck of a deal.

Large ring ground to small ring dimensions on the sides and hot blue on the action that's turning plum. I wouldn't want it!
