Trying to find the best rat poison to put by a wood pile. No cats or dogs to worry about. I see rats running in and out of it at night time. thanks - tnscouter

Flour mixed with plaster of paris or baking soda.

They cant crap rock or fart.

Fill a cup with Dr Pepper or Cola. Again, they cant fart or burp.

wife and I used to be licensed PCO's

She still keeps her license active and has a commercial clientele.

We use *some* Talon-G (brodi).

Anyway, I had a plastic 2 gallon commercial pail of toss packs in my shop.
Some friggin wise ass squirrels got in there and decided to gnaw into that sealed plastic lidded pail. Lmao
All those toss packs were shredded. About 50-70 packs in there.
I'm guessijg there was a hell of a squirrel Jim Jones koolaid party in the woods up behind my building.

Whatever you put out, put it in a bait station..........please. Rodent bait stations are on the shelf right beside the buckets of poison bait at the farm/suburban supply store. They cost less than $10 each and are very good at keeping non target species away from the bait.

There are lots of second generation rodenticides on the market, diphacinone, brodifacoum. Lots of trade names, Tomcat, Just one bite. They are all very effective, and are all anticoagulants.

So unless you want the neighbors cats and dogs, or the local bird population bleeding out of their ears, eyes, and rectum, keep the bait in a good bait station.

When I throw "Just one bite" into the crawl space, and see a large house fly come out days later... I know I killed a rat or a mouse.

Much less work than putting rat and mouse traps in the crawl space.

Strychnine...hard to get but a crisp benjamin at a pest supply house in the ghetto will generally get you some.

You'll never see a rat again...or any other living animals depending on what you mix it in and where you place it.

I also counsel the use of bait stations.

eek Wouldn't wish that fate on Adam Schiff, the biggest rat I know of.

Actually old fashioned mouse traps and D-Con (or same stuff under another brand) is all I've ever needed. And you have a better chance of reversing an anti coagulant if it should go horribly wrong.

Couple weeks and we had them all taken care of, plus we located and sealed up the entry point.

I like plain old mouse traps. Bait them properly, learn where to place them, have success and you get this faux pioneer trapper feeling. Silly I know, but what the hell, run with it and enjoy it.

that looks like a postmodern mouse catcher?

yellow plastic instead of a copper trip?

well if it results in a death, it's good.

To each his own. I have been plagued with rats for 22 years at my house. I killed a lot of 'em with poison, I killed 'em with traps. I caught 8 or 9 with the Hava hart trap, and deported them. Moved them 10 miles away.
Wipe 'em all out, and in 4 months they are right back. They live in the woods and you wipe 'em all out, a new Mama rat will show up and repopulate your house. They were building nests in the heater blower fan, cost $75 to get that cleaned out, and I had it cleaned out 4 times, on 2 different vehicles. They were chewing the wiring on my pickup truck!

I went to Amazon and bought a bunch of electronic rat repellers. Find one with 5 gold star reviews, and buy it. I bought a $40 model, I bought one for $10, I bought a bunch of them. I figure each different model has a different sound frequency.
I put 5 of them in the basement, 3 in the crawl space, I put 2 in the dogtrot basement, and two more in the carport aimed at the wood pile.
That was 13 months ago and I haven't seen a rat since.

Yes I spent $375 on electric repellers, best money I ever spent.

Do your dogs react to the repellers?
