I enjoy shooting and hunting with Number One rifles, but am down to just one, a 375 H&H Tropical. It shoots very nicely!

The RSI, full-stock look appeals to me - but - do they present any unusual accuracy challenges?

My experience with #1 RSIs is exactly one gun deep, so take this how you will. I have an RSI in 257 Roberts, and it is hunting accurate with several loads (1.5 moa), and there is one load it really likes involving the 117 Sierra and H4350. By really likes, I mean 3 shots sub MOA if I don’t shoot too fast. If it decides it doesn’t like a load, it really doesn’t like them, sometimes going 5-6 moa. It’s a finicky fun, but can be made to shoot. Other #1s have have had may have been slightly more consistent.

My experience in owning one and shooting others is that. You get an rsi for pleasure of carrying not for driving tacks. That said cold barrel groups were in the 1.5-2” range with the 7x57 I had. The first two almost touched and the third shot vertically climbed some to open the group up. Having shot one in 30-06 I’d recommend a 7x57, 6.5x55, 257 roberts etc. I found the muzzle blast on the 30-06 a bit much with the 20” barrel and “short action” of the falling block. Others may feel otherwise.

I bought one in .243 Winchester about 36 years ago to start my daughters off deer hunting. It accounted for a few Nebraska whitetails, using factory ammunition, and a few New Mexico desert mule deer using hand loads with either 90-grain Nosler Solid Base or the 90-grain Ballistic Tips. I also had one chambered in 7x57 that I shot a lot, but never took hunting.

Both rifles grouped right around an inch at 100 yards with loads that they liked, but I wouldn't call them sub-moa shooters. They were certainly more than adequate for deer hunting.

i have a few Ruger #1`s in the full length Manlicher stock ,i only have 1 with a scope on it in a 257 Roberts and that little rifle shoots groups all day long with groups under an inch,i do think i got lucky with its accuracy.

Friend of mine has a 257 Bob in the RSI, it is about 5 years old so it's a Ruger-produced barrel. Shoots 117 Interlocks around 1", by which I mean it will produce 3-shot 1" groups regularly but not every time.

I have had one RSI.
Didn't shoot but a couple dozen shots through it.
4X w just a suede shooter bag (rear type) used up front, I shot it at 75 yards,
.243 win w 100gr WW PSP.
Had it kinda roughed in from time before.
Nothing around the bull (Sharpie marker 1-1.5" dot).
P*ssed off I went down to check.
Cloverleaf of 3 shots, in the center of dot.

Killed a deer on a fast walk at 50 yards. Bullet just whistled through.
Tried some 95 gr WW Deer Season XP and groups bigger and POI different.
Wondered about forend screw.

Set at 15 in lbs, it put both on the money at 75. Interchangeable.

Before it was 20 in lbs or maybe a hair more.

Odd, but at 15 and no Loctite, it never loosened and shot great.

Got drenched hunting a monsoon opener. Took gun apart when I got home.
Even though I had Renaissance waxed it prior.

No deer big enough to try the DXP.

Sold the rifle for minimal profit (should have gotten way more).

My complaint w the rifle............20" bbl is blasty.
Will try a #1A in .243

Gives me something to look for over the summer.

The RSI handled great, shot great, looked nice.
Think a #1 A will just be nicer.

Hope I find one that shoots like the RSI did.
My luck aint very good.
