Have you looked at the Meopta?

Except for a few minor issues (more personal than problem) they are pretty good glass for the money.

Haven’t looked through the Vortex 12’s, but wasn’t to impressed with the 15’s.

The Minox has been recommended before by members of the 'fire, but I don't see any 12x or 15x models on Doug's site any more.

I have them. I LOVE them. I chose these over the meopta and swarovski (what I was expecting to buy).
IMO these are the best binoculars I have ever held. YMMV.

additional information:
The swaros have the best resolution (not noticeable at the center, more near the edge). However the "field flattening" it uses to accomplish this comes at the cost of 'depth of field'. The swaros also have a very light (little resistance) focus knob, with aggressive adjustments. The end result with the swaros, is that I keep fiddling with the focus to look at the thing I want to look at. The razors are more pleasant to use - the most "invisible" binoculars I have used.
