We need to ban chemicals and stop this kind of violence

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/12/world/asia/china-chemical-attack.html

Beijing: At least 54 persons, including 51 children, sustained burn injuries after a disgruntled man broke into a kindergarten and sprayed a corrosive chemical on students in southwest China's Yunnan province, authorities said on Tuesday, in one of the deadliest attacks on schools in the country.
The incident took place on Monday in the city of Kaiyuan, when the 23-year-old man, surnamed Kong, climbed into the kindergarten and sprayed caustic soda (sodium hydroxide), state-run Xinhua news agency quoted authorities of the city.

Depending on concentration, sodium hydroxide is about as nasty as it comes for instantaneous skin damage. It takes a lot of water to wash it away, and time is of the essence.

Hopefully none of the kids died, but I am sure many or most of them will suffer blindness and permanent disfigurement.

Sodium F'ing Hydroxide. As IS said, came be f-ing nasty. At the pulp and paper mill we had the chit maxed right out at 13.999999 pH. It bonds with the fatty tissue in skin and continues burning after the feeling goes away. Evil as anything. Demented phucqker! Luckily we had it at hot temperatures so it'd thermally burn too....

BTW, it's what turns wood chips into pulp.
