Seeing these in several places now. Some Zastava 70s ( rough out) and some Huskies. This one in 9.3x62 seems to have a lot of drop at the heel! Anyone have/shot one like this and did it hurt?
I have a Husky 30-06 with similar drop in the stock and it does not seem to kick me bad at all, but then I have always liked rifles with more drop in the stock.
Always remember that you are unique, just like everyone else.
I've owned a couple of Huskys like that in 30-06. They're heavy enough that recoil won't be too bad. Recoil from the 9.3 is more of a shove than a fast jab like a 338 WM.

I agree with above replies. I have had four Husqvarnas in 9.3x62mm. One of which was a 640 series rifle like you have pictured above. I ran receiver sights on that one and shot mostly Norma factory 286 grain ammunition out of it. I never felt the recoil was any more than that of a .30-06 with a stout load or heavy bullet. I never did run recoil ads on three of the four 9.3x62's I had either. Everyone is different of course, and that is just my take. Recoil could especially be managed through handloading.
I have a 640 in 9.3x62, it has a decelerator pad on it and isn't much different from shooting a 30-06. I love that gun, I don't think you would regret one.
Thanks guys. I actually found a good deal on a little Mod 77 Hawkeye in .338 RCM. It is more in line with what I wanted for a lightweight mountain/woods rifle. I understand it is just about like a 338/06, which is way plenty for me. I gave my SIL a CZ 550FS in 9.3x62 and I can use it whenever I want, but I'm good for now. I am seeing more and more of these old Huskies around now, so was wondering about that drop at the heel. Good to know they aren't painful anyhow.
I understand the drop in the comb for iron sights, grew up with irons. I just use a "chin weld" instead of a "cheek weld" when shooting. The worst stocks for kicking "me" anyhow, are the "Made for Sears" Mod 70s renamed "Ted Williams". Hard, almost sharp comb and thin, hard buttplate. Ouch. In the mid 80s, a friend bought a Winchester 70 in 338WM. That was another brutal kicker!

I have two, an early post 64 and a new Haven Stainless classic in .338 Win. Mag. and both are mean as hell regarding recoil. I put a brake on the Stainless Classic and frankly saw no real difference in kick. I call them my Flinchmasters. Paul B.
