Found a Marlin JM 1894 in 44 mag made in 1977 it comes with micro rifling . Is that bad for 44 magnum shooting jacketed bullets ? I hand load so I can shoot cast bullets . Also is $460 bucks a good price for a used rifle that been kept in good shape.
A really good price, if really clean. The micro groove rifling will shoot jacketed bullets just fine, and if sized right, will shoot cast bullets really well.
I have an 1894 357, made in 1980. It has the micro grove rifling. Mine shoots a gas checked lead bullet excellent. Most of what I read said lead and micro grove rifling was a no go. I would go for it.
