Fotis - Here is that PRS rifle I told you I was building, I finally had enough time to get her put together.

Perty gun... Dang heavy, but it’s a PRS gun, I’ll put a APA break on it sometime later.

Build details

Curtis Vector Action (6 Creedmoor)
Krieger MTU profile 1-7.5 twist
Foundation Exodus stock
Hawkins Bottom metal
Trigger Tech Diamond trigger
AW Magazines
Vortex AMD Razor scope

A long way from working around the switchboard in Iraklion Air Station Greece in the USAF back in the 80's!

I miss those days.

AW mags are staggered stacks, as long as you know how to tweak them they do feed really, really nice.

For the 6 Creedmoor which is fairly straight walled, you just adjust the feed spring in the magazine so most of the pressure is to the back end of the mag follower (when the spring & follower are out the front end nose dives a bit)... Then adjust the lips so the tips of the bullet is level with the feed ramp and it’s slick as butter.

The Vector action is a 3 Lug like my Sako 85’s, and is DLC coated so it’s slick and fast...
The Foundation stock is Micarta - and it’s as dense as aluminum, but absorbs vibration so there is no ring to the shot, or sharp ting, it’s a dead thump - SWEET.

Yeah man.

Digging them in the 6 Dasher just wish they were cheaper.

Highbean - have you seen the 6GT that Tommy and George have been working on all year ? (Tommy owns Vapor Trail Bullets, George owns GAP - both are great guys and local to KC.. )
It’s a stretched Dasher to get it to run 3k FPS without pushing it so hard..

I picked the Creed for the speed and wind handling, but may go dasher after a while, the issue of course is good brass (Lapua), I’m picky that way.
I’m just glad I don’t have to pay another guy to make this stuff anymore. smile

Sweet setup!! What bullet you gonna run?

The 6GT is a pretty interesting one. Brass should be available also.

Fotis...

I finally put it on paper just to see what the first break in group would look like - looks like I need to get busy building a load.
I shot this on a trip to make sure my deer rifle was sighted in (evening hunt... only had 15 or minutes to screw with shooting other rifles)...

Anyway - here is the “start with” this group and tune it in to something it likes
Note - after the first 2 shots I tried dialing down the torrent.. it was just off the bottom.... so I’m not sure that the gap isn’t from me trying to bend the stop pin or not smile

TommE and George built the 6 GT... or George Gardner (GA precision), and TommE from Vapor Trail Bullets - I know both of them... they are here in Kansas City.. Both Great guys, and excellent shooters... In fact I used TommE’s bullets and have shot 1000 yards at the Vaportrail range - I’ll probably join that range this spring to get the bugs worked out of this rig I just built.

I’m running a 6 creed right now, but the GT depending on brass availability (Lapua grade) may likely be my next build.

The GT is a good round.

Best,
Spot

There is a good article on the 6GT in the 2020 Hodgdon Annual Loading Manual.

The reason they made the GT (TommE started it George and TommE made it together), was they wanted a cartridge that could run at 3k FPS, but to do that with a Dasher case you had to run it way too hot... so they made the GT. (A stretched Dasher).

Alpha is making brass for them now, George basically did the same when he made the GAP 4s.

Once I start shooting PRS more, I’ll likely try the GT, right now I’m running the Creed which is a little hotter - the GT has less kick so it’s between the Creed and Dasher speed / kick wise.
TommE just send me the 1,000 hand made bullets I ordered so It’s time to start load development.

Vaportrail bullets bought the bullet making gear from Spencer bullets, who made the best bullets for benchrest.

In fact Vaportrail bullets is now using the method / approach from thier handmade bullets in a machine made production bullet - they are really running well, and outdoing others.
