I have a LH tikka .300 Win. I want to screw on a 6.5 PRC bbl. The PRC's feed OK out o the .300's mag but would be better with a shorter mag.

Are long and short Tikkas built on the long action differing only by the bolt stop?
Will the shorter magazines fit in my long action.?
Short action bolt stop work on the long action?

Anything else I am missing?

Thanks,

Lefty

Yes, the actions are the same except for the bolt stop.
Yes, the magazines will fit in either action--in fact you should take care not to mix them up if you have two rifles on the bench at the same time.

Not sure if you're missing anything else.

Okie nailed it...
Tikka WSM mags are a little tight on available COAL. I’ll have to dig it up off the Hide, but someone was making OEM replacements that have a longer mag well.

In my opinion you do not want to go with a shorter OAL magazine. Just screw the new barrel on and get one of hells canyon armory magazines. This way you won’t be restricted on how far out you can load your bullets. I run his magazine in my 270 wsm and it feeds flawlessly

I believe those may be the ones I was referring to.

How much COAL do they allow?

They allow a cartridge up to 3.380 oal. They are specifically designed for the 6.5 prc and the wsm line of cartridges. They have bumps bucket into them that keep cartridges from moving forward and deforming the tile of the bullets. I have been very impressed with mine so far.
