If I hunted shortish-range jungles and wanted a bullet that will whack a deer hard, then I would find some Remington CoreLokt 180 grain roundnose. They will do just what you want--hit with a thump, open fast, and hold plenty of wide mushroom to plow on through. They drop like a rock though at longer range.

I think shot placement plus a 30-06 gives me peace of mind.
