Got some good ideas from this thread. In the briar jungles, you want game to be dead right there, right then. I think shot placement, rather than a specific bullet is a bigger factor in DRT scenarios.

If I hunted shortish-range jungles and wanted a bullet that will whack a deer hard, then I would find some Remington CoreLokt 180 grain roundnose. They will do just what you want--hit with a thump, open fast, and hold plenty of wide mushroom to plow on through. They drop like a rock though at longer range.
