There's places up here in the Twin Cities where folks will start lining up on Wednesday to get the Black Friday door buster deals. These people are nucking futs. Having watched this freak show for 18 years while working at Walmart, I can only shake my head. People running over elderly folks when the doors got opened, folks hiding stuff in the store so they can come back for it later when the huge lines at the register died down. People lose their friggin' minds over this crap. I just refuse to participate in this freak show. Do any of you go out into this? Lots more online shopping these days, I'm sure.

I've said it many times before and I'll say it again............ P.T. Barnum was a prophet when he said; "There's a sucker born every minute". All you need is some marketing & promotion and there's a segment of the population that will swallow it hook, line, & sinker and beat a path to your door to hand you money. In the age of on-line shopping the brick and mortar businesses have to resort to stuff like that to stay healthy.

The girls and I will be hunting elk in the forest on Black Friday. Wife will be home taking care of the place and has no interest in participating in the stupidity rules Black Friday shopping.

I'd as soon slam my winky in a car door as go shopping on Black Friday.
About 10 years ago, I decided to drop in Walmart real quick when I got off work at 10am to see if they had any .22s. Forgot what day it was. Took me about 20 minutes just to get out of the parking lot and head home.
What fresh Hell is this?

Worked Corporate .investigations for a Target Corp Company- Mervyns from 85 to 2000" long before any online shopping. I know a little sumptin bout this subject.
I suspect as a percentage of Total Yearly sales The largest Black Fridays were somewhere in the late 90's and early 2000's.
Worst ones .i ever remember were when Joe Montana signed with Mervyns to be a spokesperson. They did all sorts of promotional giveaways cards, jerseys footballs at for a few years at Black Fridays. It was FRUGGIN NUTS. The first year of the giveaways one store estimated over 1000 people showed up and camped out for a few days. They are still selling those give aways on Ebay.
The worst were the personal signings though. One time they had 5000 plus people showup at a Bay Area Mervyns here in Norcal to meet Montana and get something signed by him.
And dont get me started on the 10000 plus screaming teen girls that showed up to meet Enrique Iglesias at the Montebello Mervyn's at SoCal one year.

I'll be hunting, just like pretty much every previous Black Friday. I don't think I've attended a Black Friday since I was in High School and had a retail sales job that required me to be there working.
I can walk on water.......................but I do stagger a bit on alcohol.

Our elk season closes Nov 30. So far, it's been unseasonably warm, only getting down to the upper 20's at night where we hunt, mid to upper 40's during the days. The ground is still bare and the 10 day forecast shows nothing but clear weather. The only thing that will be black about Friday is that the elk STILL won't be moving down.

I'll be deer hunting. The only door bustin I'll be doing is into the bar, about 5:45 PM. I may have a Black Friday beer with my WI fish fry though.
Camp is where you make it.

I dont often attend black friday deals. I did go to a smaller town Lowes last year at 630 to pick up a propane grill for my son. We were in (615) and out (640) very quickly. I even picked up an electric smoker (that and propane grill about 50% off). I would do the small town again, but in now way do I want to go to the larger OKC metro sales.
