Needing to replace the spring in the gas piston on my maxus. I've got a new spring but can't figure out how to get the piston apart to replace the broken spring. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you get the spring from browning? Usually you can only replace the piston as a whole. I don’t have a maxus, but several golds. You can check Midwest gun works diagram. If you can’t get it separate from them, then it’s the whole piston. Just checked and it shows all the parts but it’s in a box, piston only. You would play hell getting it back together anyway.

Mine broke 2X. Redneck is correct they come as an assembly. Both were replaced by browning, no charge. Call them they may take care of you.

I just got a new Maxus. Is this a common problem?

Not sure about the Maxus but seemed to be a real problem on the 3.5" Golds and Super X2s that I was around.

A couple buddies never knew they had issues until they noticed one was broken and then they started looking at the others.

Pretty sure one of em just kept using his until he either traded or sold it.

I haven't had that issue with 3 of my 3" Golds and a 3" SX2.

YMMV.

Thanks 10gaugemag. I'll look into it some more.
