i have had basically a lifelong love for the garand, and everything it stands for. To shoot one, you would never forget it. This is just an excellent video on some history in europe and the garand rifle. Looking at that area today how beautiful it is, it wasn't so with the bloodshed that took place.

I just renewed my membership to the GCA. I'm the proud owner of 3 M1's. One of which has a WWII receiver with the original barrel. I have never really been interested in getting an IH. I do have 2 1954 Super M's in the barn.

A splendid battle rifle. I liked the M14 I carried in basic better. Just me.

It is the only inanimate object I have an emotional attachment to. It doesn't make sense but here it is.

Yes, I am still pissed at myself.

A few years ago Springfield purchased a warehouse full of Garand parts in Italy. They assembled a bunch of brand new rifles in 308 and 30-06 from those vintage parts. At least one of them came into our local Sportsman's Whse for (I think) about $600.

And I failed to bring one home.

Great design, sexy action. I am more fond of the M14 though.

I got an IH Garand in the 1980s through one of the greatest trades I ever had. It wasn't stolen because I got it from a Sheriff's deputy. I killed my first deer with it in 1983. It will be passed down in the family, I'll never sell it.

It’s an iconic rifle and an integral part of our history. I love the Garand and while I’ve owned many I don’t currently own one. I’ll eventually pick one up, more so I can pass it on to the kids.

I can certainly understand the emotional feeling it elicits because I get that same feeling. I think of what that rifle represents and the men that died with it in their hands.

I've had a lifelong desire to own these things and have been lucky enough to have had several. They have been International Harvesters, Springfield Armorys, and Harrington and Richardsons, but no Winchester Repeating Arms.

My favorite is an IHC that I bought as an non-functioning hunk of mistreated plastic and metal....it had a Ramline stock! By non-functioning, I mean a severely mistreated and neglected rifle, not a drill rifle.

I restored it back to functioning status and I fire it pretty often.

Thank you for your stewardship of that fine rifle, Vic.
