The boys, my son and his buddy, both punched one of their RIVER WMA doe tags this morning and want to come back this afternoon to see about punching either or both of their remaining tags, one buck and one doe.
Another 1-shot per deer, shoot 'em though the lungs, followed by a 30' stagger and fall over dead harvest via Winchester/Olin's 6.5 Creedmoor 125 grain Deer Season XPs.
As soon as they drag the deer to the truck and load them, we'll be heading off to Wahoo to drop the deer off at the processor, then home to clean up and go out for lunch.
All in all a pretty nice day. This will be my last father-son deer hunt for awhile, as next year he will be off at College. Enjoy your kids while you can, 'cause sooner or later they'll be off living their lives and making their memories without you.
We didn't see any bucks that were big enough to shoot this morning, just little basket racks. I counted 17 deer this morning, 13 does and the 4 small bucks. With a little patients and a little luck, a nice one or two may show up between 3:30 and 30 minutes after sunset today.
My Wife and I are retiring out of state, so we may be closing in on the end of our Nebraska hunting. I can't imagine myself coming back and hunting out of a motel room.
Not sure. I'd prefer southwestern Colorado, but my Wife prefers New Hampshire. Neither place has the nearly the number of deer that we see in Nebraska.
Enjoy your kids while you can, 'cause sooner or later they'll be off living their lives and making their memories without you.
Very true!! Glad for everybody that had time afield with family and friends. My son also connected opening day @ 360 yards on his best buck yet. Had him aged at the check-in and he was a 5 1/2 year OLD bruiser!
Biden's most truthful quote ever came during his first press conference, 03/25/21. Drum roll please...... "I don't know, to be clear." and THAT is one promise he's kept!!!
I have rifles and chamberings listed. Don't know all info.

It is. My 68 year old brother shot that with the Win 70 in 270. It's been in our family since purchase. My two brothers and myself and my oldest son have all shot deer with it.
That is the first drop tine he had seen live in 50+ years of hunting. I saw it on Friday before the opener. It is pretty neat to see one. At least here in Nebraska.
