I had a familiar buck show up on cam that I'd missed two years ago. He was a 6 then and considered a cull. He'd gained a couple of extra points now, but still had the same shape to his rack. He ran the other bucks off of my property like usual and it's just been him on cam for over a week now. I wanted this big boy bad, but they don't show up very often in the daylight when they get this old. Saturday morning I only saw one small buck around 10am, the full moon has them moving late it seems. I got to my stand around 3:30pm that eve, sat down, laid my rifle on the shooting rest, removed the sling, and looked up to see the big boy I was after at 175 yards looking away from me! I quickly grabbed my rifle, settled in, and squeezed off a shot. I saw him jump and kick at the shot, so felt really good about it. A short tracking job later and here is how I found him: Rifle/load: M700 24" 270 Win in Manners EH6 with a Conquest 3.5-10x44 in TLW lows. 136 Edge TLR in WW case, WLR, 62gn R26, 3210fps avg Have a good one, Loder

You've got to be happy with that! Lots of character there.
We've got a 3.5yr old forkhorn on one of our stands that I'd really like for one of my kids to kill. Interesting to see that it might be possible for him to pick up another tine if he lives a few more years. Slightly wonky genetics make for some interesting trophies sometimes! Cameras do sometimes help us to know these "different" bucks and watch them over time.
Now with even more aplomb

Congrats, thanks for sharing. That's a bit fast load there, how's the accuracy? I've been playing around with R26 just haven't settled with a good load yet in my .270

Nice to know what's around and really cool when you see a giant here and there. Good luck getting the cull. We've got a few culls in Union that need to be shot as well, but it's been a slow few years for deer sightings up there for my family. I don't even hunt up there much anymore, see way more deer in other areas.

Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.
Ain’t easy havin pals.

Yes, it did fairly well. Entrance was on the rear of the onside shoulder and there was a large hole underneath the hide with 3 broken ribs. The lungs had a hole about 2" in dia, one off side rib broken, and the front of the off shoulder had a large hole, but the exit was pretty small in the hide. It's almost like it had two expansions and the shank exited. Blood was trackable, but not great. I'd like to try a few on broadside shots to see what happens. Performance on this one example was the same as a Partition IME.
