Saw 4 bulls from right here close to cabin this morning. 3 were together crossing open at about 300 yds. One was biggest damn bull I’ve ever seen! Big blue bastid he was. Only Saturday. If young son wants one he may still get his chance. He saw 2 cows but over on neighbors place. Low fence. Never know. He also had a good buck come out this more. But he was moving back and forth on sendero too fast to get a comfortable shot.
He has two Husqvarna 640’s ( 30-06 & .270) and a 94 Win carbine in .30 WCF with him. We’ll see.
Hell, Im done for weekend. Except mebbe some quail. Model 12 is with me.

One dang fine rifle and shooter that can stand on his hind legs and hit a Nilgai in the noggin at 140 paces![/quote]
In half light and with open sights!
If things ever get bad enough for a real shooting war I wouldn’t mind having KW in my fox hole...besides he smokes a pipe too and I could bum some ‘baccy off him.

Nice job, with an awesome rifle! I bet this wasn’t taken near Bastrop, maybe a little further south? Congratulations and Happy Thanksgiving!

Old son got head to me today for my Christmas present. He did a pretty dang good job, being the hydrostatic shock from the head wound didn’t make his work any easier. I gotta figure out a way to mount it on something Where it won’t come all apart. Its kinda rickety.

Maybe brush some thinned epoxy from underneath and inside the skull to strengthen it? Nice Skull mount!

Congrats on your hunt and shot. I just looked up at my first one on the wall and darned if yours is a bit longer horns. I shot my first Nilgai with my 1895 .405 WCF and 300 grain bullets. Here is a pic of my second on taken with .405 Simson Suhl double down near Hondo right after 5 inch rain. My son shot one that went down about 10 yards away. Enjoy the meat!
