I do my own proprietary camo stock painting. Up to now I’ve just done it for myself and friends but am thinking about offering it to the community at large here if there is enough interest. This post is to see if it is worth it for me to offer up the service. If you would be interested please chime in.

I use multiple coats of Krylon paint and finish with three or more coats of matte clear sealant. I’ve had rifles that have had the same finish for years and not needed touch ups. I have various patterns but this is my main style. They will vary a bit from rifle to rifle and no two will ever look exactly alike.

Thanks to all...

Looks very nice! Are you using a sponge to dab it on? I’d be interested depending on cost.

Thanks for your interest. I use a variety of methods to get my results depending on the desired effect. I have other patterns I do but this is the one I’ll start out with if there is enough interest.

Also, if you would, please post here as opposed to PM’s as my box will fill up pretty quickly if I don’t keep up with it.

Thanks again to all... smile

They look really nice. I may be interested in. Do you have to sand the stock any?

Thank you for your interest, it is much appreciated. I dont because I want the rough texture to come through for friction/grip and less light reflection. The rough texture aids a good flat finish and is better functionally for gripping purposes, IMHO. . .

Edited to add if the stock is in bad shape somewhere I might smooth it out some but if the base is decent I try not to between coats, if that makes sense...

Also just realized I may not have answered your question correctly. Yes there is prep work before painting that may or may not involve sanding.

Looks like a nice variation to offer. Good luck with your service here. Great group of folks to work with.

Thanks, I was wondering about the prep work. I was curious if you sprayed primer or sanded.

I’m thinking around $75 per stock not including shipping.

Thank you. I’ve done whole rifles but for now I’m just going to be concentrating on stocks if I decide to do it.

Don’t know if there’s enough interest to make it worthwhile.

Is this for synthetic only? Or wood also?
