Hello, I have a Husqvarna in 308, serial number 202109 with Nitro on the barrel, and I am trying to identify it. As you can see in the pics, it has the schnabel stock. I am hoping there are aftermarket triggers to help with the accuracy. Any help would be appreciated!

Update: There are no iron sights on the barrel.

I'm no Husqvarna expert, but there are not a lot of after-market trigger options for Husky rifles, at least without needing major modifications. Depends on which specific Husky action your asking about, and your photos don't show much of the rifle, making it harder to identify. This is about the only one for an HVA action that I know of:

Specific barrel length and what it says on the top of the barrel will help as well as the other pictures.

Some used the FN action, I know the 640s for sure. I have one and it has the standard Timney trigger used for the FN. I'm not sure which model you have.

20" barrel

Husqvarna Vapenfabriks A.B. Cal. 308

And there is the faintest of outlines where a front sight used to be.

It is the 1640 action. It is either a model 4000 or 4100 depending on whether it is a standard or monte carlo stock, but that doesn't much matter. The 1640 action is what is important. Huber is the only one that makes a trigger kit for the rifle that doesn't require modification of the stock. I have one but have not fitted it to the rifle. If you do a google search, I believe there was someone that reviewed the Huber Concepts trigger here on the campfire. There are also some old triggers produced by Timney that were marketed/sold by Tradewinds that are pretty hard to find.

You seem to have an earlier one of the 1640 actioned rifles with the steel triggerguard and floor plate, rather than the later alloy ones. A good thing in my opinion. Seems to be a 1956 model by serial number. With a 20.5" barrel and Monte Carlo cheek piece I agree with a 4000 model most likely. But I am not entirely sure if they called them 4000's in that 1956? Maybe someone else knows on that. You said it has an outline of the front sight. Is there a dovetail cut for a rear sight by chance?

No rear sight or any indication there was one.

This is only the second or third one of these 4000/4100 rifles that I have seen with just a front sight and no rear dovetail cut. The other one I recall was an early 4100 chambered in 7x57. Knowledgeable Husqvarna people have told me that Husqvarna did do this on some rifles making them set up for scope or receiver sights only more or less. Has anyone else ran across this on factory barrels? A unique thing to see for me.

Husky model designations seem to be pretty "fluid" in my limited experience. Just sold an FN-actioned '06 I bought last year on a whim. It was marketed to me as a 1948 640, but neither was marked anywhere on it, and it was an H-collar, not a C like my other FN, an FI import that is dated that year. I've seen others sold as 640s that look like 96s.

Mine had a blade front sight mounted in a ramp and a screw-on leaf rear with an elevator. Fine shooter even with the old Lyman 4x PermaCenter.

The OP's rifle looks like a nice one, whatever the heck it is. Nice snag.
