I own and love the Tikka T3/T3X series. However, after seeing numerous threads and videos, it has me wondering if the Ruger American/Predator series is the poor man’s version of the Tikka T3.
The Rugers are a lot less expensive but have a very large following.

I like Tikka, but for $300 it’s pretty hard to beat a RAR for hunting and general shooting

I have both, the Tikka is roughly twice the cost. It is slightly more accurate, but no where near twice as accurate. Close call, but I wouldn't sell a Tikka to buy a Ruger. If squeezing that last tiny bit of accuracy is worth the money to you then buy a Tikka. If not the Ruger is a lot of accuracy for the money.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

My RARs have been just as accurate on average as my Tikkas. Not much difference between them, except the Tikka has a better stock, a little better trigger, and a bit more polished fit/finish. A stock upgrade and a Timney gets you a rifle that’s at least as good, IMO. The RAR can be had with superior mags. Really, a RAR is great if you want an entry-level rifle that can be upgraded later, and the Tikka is GTG from the factory.

I have both. Accuracy is similar. Inspection of fit and finish quickly shows that they are two separate classes of rifles. The Ruger is rough as a cob. Everything about the Tikka feels and looks higher quality — except the plastic mag. Tikka trigger is noticeably better. I got my T3X before prices went up, so at less than $600, it was a steal. On the other hand, I forked over nearly $500 for the RAR-P with AI mag.

Tikka hands down if cost is not a consideration.

The Tikka definitely feels like a better rifle. The action feels smoother for sure. But I have wondered the same thing in the back of my mind.

i appears to me ruger copied the tikka t3 pretty good with the rar series of rifles. there i said it. y'all were thinking the same thing and if ya wasn't look at em both close. except for the bedding block the top of the action is a direct copy like i said minus the safety and bedding block ruger did a good job of copying a darn accurate rifle platform. the most sincere form of flattery is........ It might look like a tikka copy from the outside but if you take them apart and check tolerances they are completely different. Its a lot like saying a 350 with internals that are set up to turn 10,000 rpm is a copy of a 350 with internals that will handle 5000 rpm. They look exactly the same on the outside
Good bullets properly placed always work, but not everyone knows what good bullets are, or can reliably place them in the field
