Very sad, The older I get, the less I want to challenge nature needlessly.

This tragic mistake was made just a bit south of the location of our previous SW Campfire Feb. rendezvous - further down Tonto Creek on the other side of 188. Tracy and others among you have been close to there. Quite a number of folks live on the other side of the creek near there, so the use of this crossing is common - and its is dry/safe about 99% of the time.

The relevant caution is one of the first things a person must learn when moving into the SW deserts - only very ignorant and careless people drive into a wide desert arroyo/wash when it is running. Very sad - this hurts a bunch.

what should hurt is he ignored warning signs and drove into the wash anyway. I would think the driver is guilty by statute of involuntary manslaughter.

i have refused to drivein many washes on the desert looking to the black skies to the north of me, and anticipating what's gonna be coming down hill.
The storm we just had was played up big time in the media, but it was really just a pizzant little storm
you should have seen the comments from the young twinkies on facebook, great entertainment if not so sad.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. the two kids, both 5 years old, were deceased. rescued implies alive, recovery implies deceased.the last little gal is 6 yrs old. they still haven't found her, as of 5 pm local time. they are searching the lake with boats, walking both sides of the creek, and they are going through a big log jam right now. improving the crossing to get more folks on the other side of the creek.

Well, poop.

That sucks for all involved.
