So far this year I have been in the woods a bunch. I have yet to hear any coyotes group howl. I know there are coyotes in the area. I have already called several in and have been in them. They just dont want to howl. It is so weird. Usually they fire up and just feed off of each other. Just been weird, not sure if there is another Apex predator that is preying on them after they howl. Most of the land we have been is on private land.
Just wondering your thoughts.
The coyotes that have been coming in have responded to territorial howls and pup whines, ir pup distress.

Not at all uncommon for coyote s not to howl, especially if there are predator or deer hunters bouncing around in the area. Because more coyote hunters have e calls, and many run their sequences incorrectly(leaving the call on constantly) you are likely to see more coyot es come in without being vocal.Late in the season more come in silently than not for me.

On public land it’s tough to get one to howl or cross in the open, too much hunting pressure. Private land is a different story and many ranchers are willing to let you hunt coyotes.

I made a set last night for the last hour of light. Started with 2-3 howls, waited 5 minutes, then went into light calling with the Fox Pro, & getting more aggressive at the end. Finished with a bunch of howling and pup in distress.....no takers.

Afterwards, I drove around and stopped at 6-7 places to howl and see if I could drum up some action, but never had a single peep in response. Not sure why they seem to be quiet. Deer season has been over, and with no snow, no dog hunters out chasing them.
