I think the State to be called Phoenix should be renamed as Picacho, or maybe Eloy

The Great State of Temecula.

Now that brings tears of laughter to my eyes.

That is an intriguing concept. I'd make two changes: I'd call the state containing San Antonio "Alamo" and for reasons not related to ego, I'd call the one you label as Salt Lake "Rocky".

Hurray for Salt Lake Rocky. wink That's a lot of public land available on one resident hunting license...

The unfortunate thing about the borderlines proposed there, for the politically "conservative" type out there, if they lived out west they'd still be under the political thumb of the large metropolises. The State of Rocky doesn't look too terrible, but the rest, even Shiprock, would have large areas underrepresented.

Perhaps we could declare war on other states?

If we could carve Nashville out of the equation of Mammoth, I guess I'd be in.

How often would the map need to be redrawn to ensure continuing equal population?

So my new state capital would be in Charlotte? Nice way to isolate eastern KY even more than it already is. I'm sure the good folk in Charlotte would really be concerned with whatever was going on in Ashland or Corbin...

Edit: Wow, Alaska would be screwed even worse than eastern Kentucky. Want to go to the capital? Go hitch a ride on a 737...

This is the same as dividing the country, reforming population by interests.

We in South Dakota wouldn't want to be mixed in with North Dakotans as in Dakota Territory. Much less those screwy Nebraskans. I know the republic of Texas wouldn't stand for it.

Just sell Alaska back to Russia, should make a tidy profit.

"Shasta" would still be f'd up... because it has Potlandia in it...

they'd screw that up also...

Typical example...

I stopped today on I 5....near a now closed rest area, there was a wide shoulder with 5 or 6 signs that said "Chain UP Area"....

it was 50 degrees out side...

There was a Honda Civic, with Oregon plates, and some Asian Pacific Looking Millennial Snowflake looking Chick was wresting her snow chains, to try to put them on her Civic... I stopped, and right behind me were two more cars with California Plates, who pulled over and were getting ready to put on their snow chains...

I walked over to her and asked her what she was doing....She gave me the DUH, I;m putting on my snow chains.....
Why I asked.... "because the sign there said to"....

" are you from Portland?" " yeah, why?" Uhh well I just came from Ashland this morning, and the passes are clear as a bell and the roads are dry... so you don't need to put on your chains.. there is no snow ahead.....

"So why then does the damn sign tell me to put my chains on?"

The sign doesn't tell you to put your chains on.....it tells you that this is an area to safely use IF you need to put chains on"

Well why in the hell don't they make that clearer????

one of the California vehicles heard the conversation, so he put his chains away and left..... the other CA car saw he do so, so he and his wife put up their chains and left also...

So the State of Shasta would not be any better if we have to take Potlandia with it....

and the State of Jefferson is the name we have already picked back in 1941, when efforts were made to leave Oregon and California and set up a new state, independent from Salem and Saca Potatoes....

Those of us in what used to be ID, western MT, and western WY still have the majority of the open land and elk hunting...assuming the enviros haven't eliminatied guns and hunting and closed off the public land to the public.
