I'd ask on the optics forum, but they're too busy arguing about what isn't a NF.

I can't seem to get this sighted in at 100 yd.

You have lost the rear lens cap.

If the bases and rings are tight it might be time to contact the optic manufacturer's service department. See what they have to say????

Ya’dummy, you forgot to install the hose clamps!

The trick is the precise amount of torque using a torque wrench costing at LEAST $499.99 and measuring to the nano-inch/pound.....

That is the same scope the Canadian Rangers use without problems...check the mounts.

Maybe it's not the scope. Maybe it's the rifle.

I went there first. They had all kinds of front posts, but didn't have a rear aperture small enough, so I decided on a scope.

I'm leaning towards it being the rifle. Rimmingtons aren't known for their quality anymore. Mine is spitting bullets all over the place.

That said, I still haven't ruled out the optical quality. I bought what I thought was a good scope, but I should have been looking at some others. This is my take. Coke used to be the top brand, but it's been slipping steadily. My first hint should have been when people started using "Coke bottle lenses" as a pejorative.

Perhaps I should be looking at RC or Pepsi. The biggest problem I see with them is they are using a lot more plastic. Frankly, plastics can't stand up to the abuse. I'm twisting the caps on and off a lot over the course of a day. They tend to break and the seal lets go. Poof! Then you got problems with moisture.

I was leaning toward the newer technology at first, but...My local store has been trying hard to convince me to take Coke's latest home. Coke Zero. They assured me that it has far less problems than their original. Apparently they called it Zero because it holds a Zero. I'm not convinced of the quality though. Once bitten , twice shy. The older shooters might remember when they tried dropping their original line about 15-20 years ago and circulated that new Coke. What a bust! They had to return to the original which they renamed "Classic".

Give me something that's solid and time proven item. Not off brands (Chinese perhaps?) with unusual stockular and subjective lenses.

I flat out told the local shop that I would never consider Dr. Pepper, any of the German brands like Afri or Club, or that crazy "Buck Snort" company from Idaho. WTF??!? The only good thing from Idaho is potatoes.

So, the search continues.

OT. Steve, that last photo of the Dr. Pepper bottle brought back memories. During the late 1930s , government "experts" looking for ways to improve office workers(working 8-5) productivity did experiments that showed improved productivity if workers were given short breaks. Breaks at 10-2-4 showed the most improvement. Thus the Dr. Pepper logo for many years.

OOT. Those few soft drinks advertising using "real sugar" are using beet sugar or a mixture of cane and beet sugar.

Maybe that beet sugar is what the foreigners are using to make their scopes! Buy American!!

Maybe you should try something in the aluminium can section of optics.

Actually, I had thought of that. I reconsidered when I read up on alon fabrication for a thesis. They haven't perfected "transparent aluminum" yet. Yes, it's the same stuff that was talked about in the television show, Star Trek. It's really aluminum oxynitride. They haven't worked out how to produce it as clear as it needs to be. It's still somewhat cloudy, and 'spensive, as we say around the lab. Alon (AY-lon) is an extremely hard material, with real potential, but we're a few years away from this.

So that means I'm back looking at conventional scopes made by Coke or Pepsi.
