....hard to imagine an 87 year old being in the shape needed to hunt it. Like has been alluded too throughout this thread, maybe not being in the shape "needed to hunt it", is exactly why he felt he "needed to hunt it". When my time comes, like others, I can't think of a better way or place to go. Our feelings or sadness are generally directed more toward those who are left behind.

Thank you Alamosa... for the update on our lost 87 yr old hunter Albie Webb. It is sad his body has yet to be found by rescue searchers, helicopters, or dogs. My deepest condolences and sympathy to his family. Lots of good thoughts on when it might be time to leave this world and enter the pearly gates. I enjoyed what 79inpa wrote, arriving at his funeral with a fresh 6x6 rack on his back... that would been an eye raising event, but perhaps The BigSky put it best: " He just needed to hunt it" ... one more time.
We ask now...God take & rest this old elk hunters soul !

I hope they find him for the family's closure. We are all terminal and God will call us back. I just hope for Jesus in everyone's heart and to be forgiven all our transgressions. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

How far can an 87 year old guy with mobility problems go? Can't believe bloodhounds had no luck. Seems like he woulda been found about 50 yards from where they dropped him off. I find it amazing that bloodhounds could not find him. This is just a big mystery.

Nope, maybe next year. Maybe in a couple more years. Won’t be anytime soon with snow in the ground.

I'm sure that many are thinking that he didn't intend to be found. Whether he's dead or alive today might never be known.

Had someone go missing on the Mt Marathon race in Seward a couple years ago. Hundreds of people on that 2 mile (or whatever) bare rock trail. No trace has ever been found.

This sounds like one of those Missing 411 cases.

There is/was an older gentleman from Rock Springs that went missing in October 2018. His truck was found, badly stuck. As far as I know, he’s never been found! memtb

Are there predators in the area? Some folk think missing hunters/hikers might be the victims of cougars or bears.

Not a hunter but some of you might remember an older couple from Canada who were going to a conference in NV some years ago. They decided to take a 'shortcut' in so. Idaho and their GPS tried to accommodate them by getting them totally lost in very remote country in northern NV. They slid off a 1 track road into a small creek and got stuck in snow. The man tried to walk out. Shed hunters found the van 7 weeks later. The woman was still alive and in surprisingly good shape although a good bit thinner. Hunters found the man's body about 18 months later. He'd only got a couple miles before apparent hypothermia got him. IIRC, he'd also left the road to try cross country, something you never do in that country.
