I've been messing around with some of the Pet Loads from this board for my Shilen-barreled Ruger 77 Ultralight in the standard 257 Roberts. I think I found a keeper this weekend. Considering the barrel is the diameter of a #2 pencil, I was plenty impressed. I need to run a few over the chronograph but I'm thinking they're running about 2,800fps out of the 22" tube.

Just wanted to share.

Good shooting. My Bob loves 42 grains of IMR-4350 with a 100 grain partition. Shoots little bitty buttholes. Good luck with your load!

Wrecked brass with only 42 grains IMR 4350 in mine and 117 grain Hornadys : Post-64 Model 70 with a heavier barrel. Came apart at web after four loadings.

Had a m98 257 Roberts that shot dime-sized 100 yard groups with 100 grain Hornadys, over 45 grains IMR 4350.

Still trying to figure out why I sold that rifle 20 years ago.

IMR4350 is best in my Bob too.

I prefer classic.

My first guess is you're oversizing the brass.......

My 77 RL Bob likes 110 gr ABs with 43 gr or RE16
Haven't chronied it yet.

Size the brass to fit your chamber.

My Model 70 FWT loves the 90 grain X bullet/45.0 grains IMR 4350/Rem 9-1/2 primer. It shoots less than .5 MOA all day long and had probably killed more critters than nay other rifle I have. It also likes the 100 grain Nosler BT with the same recipe. Once I'm out of the X bullets I'll use the Nosler BT. I sure wish Barnes would bring back that 90 grain bullet.

Nope, WW brass sucks. And, the rifle chamber is tight. Loads too hot as shown by good results with other brass offerings.

Best results with the 4831's since.

Another Bob load. This one in a LA 700, so COAL is a bit much for a SA.

It's a proven WT killer. H100V is the velocity champ in the Roberts. It's not the most temp stable, but burns clean. Good load with no pressure issues.

This is pushing 25-06 territory.

In my model 70 pre 64 I used 43.5 gr of IMR4350 with 115gr Nosler partitions, this produced 2925 FPS. Now I use RL23 with 47.5 gr of powder same billet at 3125 FPS. MRP gave about the same velocity. RL 26 gave 3133 FPS but might go a little more.

How about accuracy with those four loads?
