Yep, back the you just went to hell for eating meat on Friday- unless of course, you gave yer father some money. It was a holy affair, however, for sure.  That's not the way it worked. But, I have to ask, how is giving alms not a sacrifice? That certainly isn't a capitalist idea. It sounds more socialist. I know it's a sacrifice when I give up my hard earned money.

Sacrificing for the Lord may not equate upstairs to buying forgiveness. I suppose if you are correct, there are however, going to be lots of Kennedys in Heaven, but I wouldn't bet on it.
