14" Ithaca. at a range of less than 10 ft. This was in the 60's, NYPD stake out unit. Jim was so upset that he tried to shoot the guy in the back, without first working the pump. then he did cycle the action, shot the guy in the back, pattern about 6" wide, and he KEPT running. As the guy went out the swinging door of the harlem liquor store, Bill Adler shot the dude in the hip with .38 lrn, causing him to fall, outside of the door. Jim chased him, the guy came up on hands and knees, gun still in hand, so Jim shot again, thru the glass door. The guy rolled over, came up on hands and knees AGAIN, no gun this time and said "hey man, that's enough", and collapsed. Died in the ambulance. Jim told us that at the 1976 Columbia Conference, where 40 of us helped Jeff Cooper set up the rules for IPSC If a man as experienced in close gun play as Jim was can be confused about his gun-handling, so can you. Dont mix gun types, dont wear your pistol at different locations on your body, either.

The is just so much wrong in the open I don't know where to start.

you're fos. The stakeout unit intervened in 270 armed robberies in a span of a year or less, all black guys, all in Harlem. A 12 ga's failure to always suffice is well-documented.
