Bad.

But, there would be no cartels if Americans were not buying their products. So, who is the real bad guy ?? The cartels or the folks buying their dope and death in a bag ??

He's giving the president of Mexico time to respond.

If the president of Mexico does nothing, then President Trump has not only gained the moral high ground, but more importantly, the support of the American people to take more aggressive action.

One could start on this side of the border before designating them as terrorist organizations by prosecuting everyone caught in a crime, citizen and foreigner, under RICO statutes if there's even the slightest evidence they were associated in any way with any know cartels.

The terrorist organization designation would help with stopping the flow of money back across the border , and give big gooberment the power to check bank records, phone and internet communications even more so than now, perhaps.

For now, I think putting it on hold while the efficacy is investigated more thoroughly might not be such a bad idea. If it turns out to be a good idea, and there is a good reason to cross the border on certain missions................I say conquer Mexico and make it a US territory subject to the laws of our country.

Should have marched all the way to Panama, instead of stopping at Mexico City. And we should have kept it, just like we did NM, AZ, CA, TEXAS, etc.

Depends on the end game.

wtf would we want those [bleep], or anybody that's in them? Just machinegun a few thousand of them at the border now then, to show them that we MEAN it, and the problem stops.

Why in the world would we want to adopt Mexico's problems?

There are numerous issues involved here.
Problem solving is separating the issues,
deciding how to deal with them individually.

Then, looking at the links, and deciding if the plan needs changed

Cartels and druggies are two separate but linked problems.

We have had addicts and the "War on Drugs" for decades.
We have not had military forces operating on our border,
smuggling people and drugs in/our money and guns out.
Building power, subverting our neighboring government into
their puppet.

If it wasn't drug cartels, but Muslim or Communist forces, we
would have been fully engaged before 2009.

I'm hoping that we aren't just waiting.
But building Intel and target lists.
Could be, that in a month or three, over a few days or weeks,
The cartels will lose their heads.

And, #'s 2,3,4,5.....
Along with huge amounts of cash, product, and infrastructure.
Right now they are as security lax and lazy as they are going to get.
We can probably hurt them more by watching, passively, untill
we have little more to know.

If we attack them now, they will become much harder to find,

I firmly believe that had we annexed Mexico at the Mexican American war, there would not be any "Mexico Problem". Annexing Cali, NM, AZ and I think CO, and letting Texas join the Union worked out quite well.

Except for Texas joining the CSA.

I think with a bit of American law and order/justice meted out to the corrupt Mexican government officials by American marshals and the citizens of Mexici having the benefit of the Amrican BOR, Mexico would be a whole different place today.

I don't think "adopt" is the right term.

We got 'em whether we want 'em or not.

Why would we want another democrat state/territory?

Any guesses who they would vote for?

As far as doling out any justice....

You missed the part where I mentioned it should have happened 160 years ago.

Like any malignancy, the cure is best administered early. Delayed treatment usually leads to a terminal prognosis.

It is apparent to me that Mexico is pretty much terminal today. She is alive today, solely through life support via US dollars shuffled across the border by cartels and immigrant workers alike.
