Gentlemen,
Could you please suggest a book series for a man who was a Army Aviation, ATC/ATC Instructor (retired). He likes espionage/mystery/military based books. But something a little different if you think it was a really good series or book would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Lynn

Good afternoon Lynn.
Does he like historical types or primarily fiction?
Books critical or supportive of the military (on an institutional scale, not picking on individual members of the Armed Forces)?
You'll probable get some good ideas on here.
Hope you're enjoying the fall, winter is coming fast here.
Good luck with the search for your friend's reading enjoyment.

Doesn’t fit the military genre,
But the CJ box joe Pickett series are very good.
Mystery, suspense, outdoors...
I like military books. I’ve read a bunch of current stuff. Non fiction. I’m outsider looking in though. No military time. So i can’t call BS in a story like your friend can.

While not fiction, this is my favorite military read. It is best read while having Google maps open and the terrain feature enabled. Finding the ancient sites by guessing the modern name equivalents may be tiresome or enjoyable. Seeing the terrain and how it affected the route selection and battle positions are invaluable. once past the first chapter the reading gets easier.

Check out the series of books written by William R Forstchen
Basically it’s the story surrounding an EMP explosion over the US. It’s based on facts/science which lends to its credibility One second after- really good. One year later - good but not as good as the first The final Day - sitting next to the couch waiting to be read

Might I suggest the two books written by our own Rocky Rabb.
GREAT books about small aircraft spotter planes during the Vietnam war.

The Sharps Rifles series by Cornwell, at least the early ones.
I've been reading who-done-its for quite a while now and have enjoyed the old masters - Doyle, Christie, Stout, Hammett and Chandler. Latest "discovery" are the Inspector Morse books by Colin Dexter.
