I thought I was doing good ordering 5 weeks before Christmas but I guess not. I had ordered a left handed Savage 11/111 TH XP compact 7mm-08. I'll leave the company name out until I see how they're going to handle it. But, Savage says the model has not been discontinued and is still in production. The company I ordered from says no timeline available for shipping. Anyone ever dealt with this and how long should I expect to wait? Not in stock anywhere else either running the usual traps.

Backordered items are just that.......something that has been ordered, but has no time frame on when it will arrive. I've had a particular rifle on backorder for 6 months, and it's not a Savage. If I get it, fine, if I don't, no big deal.

Unfortunately this is a a Christmas gift so I can't wait much longer.

Did a lot of searching but couldn't find a 7mm-08. Was looking for 1 for a friend.

.308 is the back up plan and can be had for less $$ shipped than the 7mm-08 was going to be. What irks me more is the rebate was $75 when I placed the order. Now it has dropped to $30. They strung me along for nearly 2 weeks saying they hadn't received my FFL, which was untrue. Now they claim there was an inventory error to blame (although they told me it was ready to ship the day after ordering).

Did you try contacting Savage directly about when they were going to be making/assembling that particular model again?

I did contact them but got a canned answer that it’s still listed on their website, has not been discontinued but do not have a timeframe of when it will be available again.

Well crazy thing, now there are at least 20 different places showing it back in stock. However, the dealer I originally ordered from still shows out of stock. I will contact them later this morning and see what the deal is. Fingers crossed!!

Gun companys will usually just make a couple runs a year of a particular rifle/cartridge so backordered is normal, I have waited 4 to 6 months several times, but in your case you have Christmas breathing down your neck..I hope Savage comes through for ya....Good luck 👍....Hb

I called them this morning and it sounds promising. Two became available overnight since the quantities updated at various warehouses from what I could determine. After calling and stating such, my order status has gone from "Backordered" to "Awaiting Shipment".....and now the 20 plus places that showed it back in stock earlier this morning are showing out of stock again. So, hopefully me and some other lucky individual scored them.

As for your rebate, as long as you purchase on or before December 2, you should get the $75. Purchased after you get the $30. Deadline for turning in the rebate is Dec 31.

Yes, my invoice is dated 11/27 so should be good to go there as long as it ships.

Well my cc is now showing the charge so.............hopefully a tracking # soon.

Maybe a tracking number by next Tuesday morning............

Crazy thing is now there are at least 15 in stock. But none for 2 weeks. But yes, glad to get it in 7mm-08 for him.

They have redesigned the detachable box mag to have a better release. I’ll have to see if it is interchangeable with his brother’s that is a few years older.
