I CAN'T WAIT for the new Hitler Movie parodies for this underwhelming screw-up of an announcement.

Krebs: The people have been asking for a PCC for years...

Hitler: Screw the people... They NEED a little rinky dink .22LR with our name on it!!!

I bought a Glock 22, 40 S&W several years ago because that's what we carried at work and I wanted to be able to shoot it more than the once a year qualification. I got to where I actually like the Glock. I'm not going to go out and buy one of each model, but I could see myself liking this new 22. I'll be watching for them to become available.

I'm kind of a Glock guy, I'll probably have one eventually.

Hey, at least holsters will not be hard to find....even for us LH'ers.

not gonna knock it til I try it, that being said, its saying its comparable in size to the G19, that's a big grip for a single stack 22...sort of wierd if you ask me. This in slim 48 profile would be better for a 22 I would think. S&W really knocked it out of the park with the m&p 22 compact...which I have and love...but this being a Glock, folks are gonna drool over them.

I don't think I would call this a Glock screw up.

In fact, I would bet the will sell as many as they can make, and they will make them with threaded barrels, for suppressors.

Great trainers for new shooters. Great sub caliber trainers for guys who shoot Glocks in competition. Fits in standard G19 sized holsters.

Sounds like Glock might know a thing or two about making pistols.

With a ten round mag, I would rather it have been made in a G48 platform.

Why does anyone assume that just because a rimfire pistol only holds ten rounds, it should be a mini pistol? There are plenty of mini 22's on the market, if that is what someone wants. And it wouldn't surprise me if Glock brings one out eventually. But it's only logical that they would provide a rimfire understudy first for their most popular pistol. And capacity only matters that much if you're going to use it for defense or gaming.....but there's the G19 for that.

I agree with this. There is a lot to be said about cheap practice with 22 in the identical manual of arms with which one is familiar. I would love to have a 22 that is the exact (or near exact) replica of every pistol or revolver I carry or may carry.

Once they get the ins and outs straight on the first model....depending on how they sell....I'd expect they will make other 22lr versions that match the size of others, like the G43.

Yep.

Fashioning it in size of a 19 makes sense, since I'm sure there are more 19 sized Glocks out there than any other model

This. I don't see any way this is a screw up, other than maybe the desire for higher mag capacity. Having owned a Ciener .22 conversion on a G23 years ago, I definitely see the appeal; it's a nice size for a little .22 plinker; definitely will be easier to carry than my Buckmark and Mk I, and almost certainly more reliable and accurate than the diminutive Walther/Ruger/etc pocket 22 pistols.

Besides, as a factory offering, I'm sure some enterprising aftermarket company will figure out high capacity magazines, if Glock doesn't make some themselves. Companies like Magpul are probably already talking about this now.

With all that said, I'd also like to see one in the G43 size.

Weight (no mag): 12.63 oz / 358 gr
Weight (empty mag): 14.74 oz / 418 gr
Weight (loaded mag): 15.94 oz / 452 gr

...any lighter and it would float...

Having a 19 and a 23 I know I'll end up with one especially since threaded barrels will be available...

Also if you read the article, there was packaging in the box that indicated the possible existence of 15 round magazines...

My Advantage Arms 22 conversion with magazine weighs 17.0 oz mounted on a Glock 22. Neat little package.

When I posted this morning, I was thinking the whole marketing fervor and follow-up dissapointment during the live announcement today was funnier than the actual pistol itself. Let me start this by saying I own and carry Glocks regularly (had one on my hip for a 10hr patrol day today and even have a 22LR conversion kit for my G21), but the marketing team should have just announced this with minimal fanfare instead of promising everyone a revolutionary change in Glock's line-up. It'll make for a nice novelty for those who want a similar sized trainer, but revolutionary it is not. When I watched the live announcement this morning on FB, the vast majority of the replies were of significant disappointment (of the 987 or so replies I saw being typed during the live announcement, only 3 were positive comments and many of the other comments were hilarious.... hence my misguided attempt at humor here this morning). Everyone was expecting somethiing BIG from all of the over the top lead-up to the announcement, so when Glock announced a rimfire, very few Glock fans were happy. Glock has a history of not listening to their biggest fan base and just releasing what they want instead of what their buyers want. Anyone who follows their history for new releases know they regularly under-deliver the product compared to the hype. Not knocking the pistol, it'll probably work as designed if kept clean and I'm sure folks will buy a few of these, but I don't think they'll be huge sellers. I may be wrong, it's happened once before. grin

No need to feel sorry, I was reminded to watch the "Live" announcement from Glock (only on facebook) a couple days ago, so I tuned in as I was getting ready for work. It was the only place to see the announcement as it was released. No biggie.

Like I said above, not knocking the pistol, only the hype surrounding it. Was reminded of the release of the G42 and the videos that followed when EVERYONE was expecting a single stack 45acp with a 5" barrel to run head to head with the 1911. Some of the comments were classic. I had a good laugh and that's always a good way to start the day.

Stumbuster: I don't understand onefuckingword of your posting but on down the thread I ran across some intelligible posts that informed me that Glock is making one of their pistol models in 22 L.R.
I am looking forward to owning one.

Wow! You sure are naive. Glock only recently lowered their prices in face of competition. But for years you were darn lucky to find a Glock-anything for under $500.

Pretending you have actual experience with guns again? Most of us actually buy guns and shoot them, instead of just getting fat in mom's basement and repeating stuff you've read online.

Good deals on Glocks have always been available for those who cared to look.

Yondering: I agree with all of your contentions, absolutely!
I for one, AM a careful shopper but it was easy for me to obtain many Glocks for way under the aforementioned/alluded to "$500.00"!

I have a tiny penis and live in my car. I saw a Glock on TV once so that means I can post. I know you are right but I think it is funny to troll.
.

Your honesty is refreshing.

G19s are on sale for $399 at Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore. Probably the lowest price in at least a decade.

It would make a nice Concealed Carry pistol for women.

They’re playing this just like the 42 / 43.

Everybody wants a small .22. Glock releases a big .22. Everybody buys the big .22. Then Glock releases a small .22 and everybody buys it, too. History has proven that they’ll sell anything they make.

Same with the threaded barrel and higher capacity mags.

They’ll sell twice as many pistols and make bank on extra barrels and mags.

My google couldn't find a $399 19 that was in stock, thought you had the inside track or something. Your link brought up a 26. But thanks anyway.

I hope you're right. I recently bought a 48 & absolutely love it. A Glock 22LR on that platform would be my choice.

In the meantime, a rimfire on the 19 platform ain't a bad thing.

That's probably true. Glock didn't get to where they are by being bad at marketing strategy, same with most big gun companies.

I'd like a G43-sized 22 LR as well; I'd buy both.
