Referring to an Amerixan made IO ak47: the front sight is canted a very small amount to th he left, making it hard to line up with the rear. I heard from someone that AK47s were meant to be fired with the weapon slightly tilted to the left so that rear sight lines up with the front...

The front sight tower looks adjustable via hex keys..if I adjust it to be straight up and down will it allow the thing to be accurately fired like any other rifle?holding it straight up and down?

Any input appreciated....

Thank you

No, they are not made and sighted to be canted. I'm not familiar with any sight towers made to be adjusted for cant.
Have you fired the rifle as is? If not you should do so before messing with the sights. If it hits dead on you're good the way you are, if you can learn to love life a little bent.

Where do the bullets hit and go from there.

After that it all depends on how anal one is.

As long as my bullets hit correctly I don't sweat much.

But things like a canted scope can affect adjustments and so on.

Having shot canted sitting rapid fire for years in service rifle since it was the most stable position for my body, you can get used to even having to make 2 corrections for one direction and shooting with a severe, well about 30 degree cant. Long as I was winning, the rest didn't matter

Lots of inexpensive AK’s have canted sights. It’s a defect.

Mines an IO(inter ordnance) USA made rifle. I expected it to be made BETTER than a Romanian or chinese one. But I think you are correct in that its quality control.

Pm me with your ph# if you want. No biggie if ya dont.
Can talk and explain alot better.
I can give you the advice on a very simple fix .
Punch , padded vice, small hammer, rubber mallet, and common sense and an extra minute of patience they dont do at IO.
My intial advice would have been to stay away from IO to begin with.
But I dont visit this forum very often.

Peace out!!!!

Lol!!!
