In my experience large game have s lot of blood and larger caliber inflict Parker wound channels which allows them t bleed out quicker in most cases.

I'm fond of going overkill. It's easy to apologise if you've offended in the process.

I do believe Phil Shoemaker killed a Brownie with a 9mm because that is what he had when the situation called for it bu I do not think he would recommend it as soon me thing to do on purpose

He probably went off to find a forum that is more appropriately impressed with his feats.

No doubt he will return. Based on his posting style and mannerisms, he is not interested in dialogue.

Only interested in typing then reading his own statements about his incredible depth of knowledge and skill on pretty much any and every subject matter.

Go to accuratereloading.com >>>Alaska hunting

Or check out the Alaska section on this website.

Or search the net...

Master bear guide Phil Shoemaker killed a brown bear with 9mm. He also did it with a 3” barreled S&W model 60 j-frame 357 mag.

He goes by the handle “458win”

Yes he did. It was all he had and he was very fortunate the bear wasn’t charging him. I’m not taking anything away from this, as he saved his client’s bacon. That doesn’t make a compact 9mm a bear gun.

I think satir’s handle is missing the “e” on the end.

Read some of his other posts and wow did he ping the BS meter.

Though I'm glad to see he has was a teacher to Cooper, Wilson and apparent compadre to Hackathorn.

Probably Smith's daddy, Vickers licks his testicles for mantra, and he and Costa Jerk off together

And I cut a 3 year old Hereford bull with two friends, a half worn out Cactus rope, an old timer and a hangover, but I would not recommend that either...

I'm not aware of but one bear that Phil used on handgun on to stop and that was with a 9mm. I'd like to see the link to the one with a 357 mag, if it exists

Even if he hadn't said it himself (and I seem to recall that he did so here on this forum) reading his account is enough to convince me that he wouldn't recommend the 9mm for large bear defense.

Phil has stated that had he known he was about to be charged by a brownie, he’d have had ol’ ugly.

I think I recall reading that Phil's daughter carries a .357 with 180 gr. hardcast for bear protection.
