Well it looks like the flu shot didn’t work for me this year. I just tested positive for Flu. Took the new Flu medicine called Xofluza...one single dose and theoretically works slightly better than Tamiflu. Here’s to hoping.

My wife is a nurse, and she said that the flu shot missed the mark this year. They try to predict the next flu strain, but they guessed wrong. She is required to get one due to her job, and she always wants me to get one, but this year she said pass.

No vaccine is 100% effective In the population, nor do all vaccines provide full immunity because the virus is constantly mutating. Sometimes it only lessens the severity of the illness. Shingles is one of those things. Flu is another.

Well you know that it was not caused by the shot.
You must have gotten it from somebody that was ill.
I still will not get a shot for something that won't be the same way in a short frame of time.
Something is wrong.

Trying to identify the strain of flu that's coming the next year is almost as difficult as developing a vaccine against the strain of the common cold that's coming next year. Nearly impossible to get it right. Vaccines are great for non-mutating viruses like polio and smallpox. The flu and the common cold, not so much.

It's never for the correct strain. I'd rather get the flu than run the risk of guillain barre.

I never get the shot and I never get the flu. I think people are crazy to get the flu shot.

Why should we be surprised when a government agency (FDA) misses the mark? You might be safer eating Romaine lettuce from Salinas, CA!

You don't necessary get a flu shot just for you. Infants and the elderly can become seriously ill if they contact the flu. Most of the time, the shot if it doesn't give complete immunity will lesson the severity. So, the shot may benefit you, your Kid, Grandkids and Grandparents more than you realize. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/when-young-adults-get-flu-shots-older-adults-benefit-best/

Swallowing big pharma BS. They tell you whatever sells the most shots. Could be from a strain 10 years ago. Oh, well, we missed the mark again, better luck next year.
I personally know one person who got a major heart problem from the flu shot and another who was damn near paralyzed.

When I was working I got a flu shot every year for about 10 years, and I never got the flu. I haven't had one in in 7 years and guess what, I haven't got the flu.

Many aspects in life can render shots ineffective too. Things like nutrient deficiencies, other illness, or just stress. Worked with a bunch of animal scientists and rough handling or simply putting animals on and off of truck in close proximity to shot time can make some treatments a waste of time. .

No vaccines in my household. Especially after my wife had a post vaccination reaction which caused ADEM with Optical Neuritis back in January.. Off to vaccine court we go, then to the manufacturer..

67 years old. Never had a flu shot, not fixing to start.

Reading through this I reminded myself that this is the internet.
