Going to load some of these ballistic tip varmaggedons and wondering if anyone has any experience with these on coyotes.

Have shot a couple with the 70 grain Varmageddon in my 6mm Remington.

Pretty boring performance, DRT results. No idea on hide damage as I left the coyotes lay right where they fell.

Ready to shoot some more with them this winter.

Good. Don't care about the hides. Just looking to take a few out, but even getting one here in the NE is difficult especially calling during the day. But I got a good deal on a 240 wby so I'm going to have at it. Other than deer and squirrels, one of the few things here that are plentiful to hunt.

They will work fine. As I recall neither of the 2 I shot with this bullet was under 100-125 yards.

I am sure they will be fine up close too just never had the opportunity to shoot one up close yet.

Chronographed some of those out of my 6mm Rem, which is on a long action Rem 700...

they were flying out the barrel at about 3650 fps...

Yes I figure around 3500 plus, and just wanted to use a little heavier bullet for some penetration should I hit bone.

What do you anticipate ranges to be?

There are some fields and power line right-of-ways, and spots where I can sit on one hillside and shoot to the other in winter where snow gives that kind of visibility. So I suppose anywhere from 50 yds or so to as far as I can comfortably shoot. Although if hunting thicker cover will probably tote the shotgun or 221 fireball.

Also late Jan-Feb guys run them with dogs here. Good to be out there in some spots where you can see some distance since they are out there moving them and they're more interested in what's behind them than what's in front of them. So might get a shot that way if/when they stop, and I'm not above trying a moving shot if the range and opening is right.
