Is this the magnum barrel contour or the sporter contour fluted? The rifle is chambered in 7mm Rem Mag.

Yup. It is referred to as a magnum sporter contour.

I got rid of my other 700's with magnum contours and can't compare them. Thanks for the info, it does look thinner then most, must be an optical illusion.

Yes, it's the magnum contour. I wondered too, until I spoke with McMillan when ordering a stock, they said it was. When I got the stock it was a perfect fit.

Agree it appears lighter, must be the (shallow) fluting that creates the "delusion".
