Mom's surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. I got a call from the surgeon this afternoon. He wants to hospitalize her tomorrow morning to get her sodium level up through IV. He said it will help with the anesthesia to be at a "normal" level.
It's an 8 hour surgery.
We are scared but we trust in God.

Just got home from a full day at the hospital. I stayed until my sister was able to get there at 6:00pm. We have to be back at 6:00am to make sure we're there before they take her in for surgery.
It was a full day of blood draws, EKG's, vital checks, IV's, Clergy and prayers etc, etc.
The thing I worry about the the most is that 8 hour surgery. That is a long, long time for her to be going through that. We are praying for strength.

If you need a second opinion this is the place to go. The University of Michigan is a Comprehensive Cancer Center. They can provide world class care for any condition. Her surgery is starting early tomorrow morning. Our family talked about having her referred to Mayo Clinic for a 2nd opinion but we also worried that the delay for surgery would allow it to spread if we did that. Roger Marris Cancer Center is very good but it would have been nice to have the time to get a 2nd opinion. For peace of mind, anyway.

Rooster.....I offer up my prayers for both your Aunt and mom. Having just gone through a very difficult cancer battle with my mother in law I feel for you and your family. Cancer sucks big time
