Traded for a barrel action recently and am looking at options to stock it. I'm wanting to go DBM and not fight feeding issues with the ackley. Have an opportunity to get into a XLR evolution faitly right and was wondering what y'all users think about them. Never have shot one before. What Disadvantages do you see?

They’re great for a variety of reasons, but don’t feel or handle like a traditional stock, if that’s a consideration.

Jordan nailed it. If you like a traditional stock, chassis are going to feel different. I bought an MPA for a custom build and while it's a great stock, I wished I'd gone with a fiberglass stock. However, chassis has some features I like such as a thumb shelf and proper eye alignment,

Thanks for the input guys. Guess I'll give one a shot and see how I like it. Never know until you try.

So far, I have not shot the chassis. Ran into several hang ups along the way. Stuff you people who are considering one of these might not have thought about, like I had not. The xlr revolution forend/barrel guard sticks up higher than the Remington action. You will need taller rings/bases. I already had low rings and bases and being cheap, decided to trade the revolution for an Element so I could use the rings and bases I already had. Mounted up the scope and found that the stock check weld was to high, even after being adjusted all the way down. So, guess I’m saying, expect to mount your scope higher than you would traditionally.

I'm not a big chassis guy and didn't think about the xlr forend.....that would be an issue. I've been playing with a MDI LSS chassis for a while now and it's not a bad way to go on a hunting rifle. It's fairly minimal, not truly light but no extras adding extra weight. I've been able to get by with standard mounts, just taking the barreled action from a stock and dropping it in the LSS. It's still hard for me to move away from a traditional lightweight stock on a hunter.
