If anyone has any info on a wierd mark I found on a pre 1 000 000 EG in .308 I'd like to hear your opinion. It has an and "&" mark in between the m and the o on the right side where it is stamped Model 99. Where did this come from, a screw up with the engraving machine? And is this going to lessen the value of the gun in any way?? I went back in to look at it again to confirm what I saw and the guy behind the counter told me it is very good ++ condition and I had a hard time not laughing cause there was the usual scratches from walking through the bush and the bluing is about 75% but it is rare and it can be cleaned up. It has the lever safety, schnobel forearm and is checkered, so I gotta go for it.

If it is light struck, I would guess it to be a factory inspectors mark of some type. Shouldn't effect the value. Price the rifle based on condition and as a shooter.

HMMMM, what do you mean by light struck, if you mean steel stamped then yes it is. Or do you mean electro pencil? No. Thanks Rick

I was refering to hand-stamped vs machine. I've seen other stamps like that but they have been below the MODEL 99 marking.

Sorry I'm picking that one up but I'll keep my eyes out for ya. I don't know if you even could buy that gun, what are the rules on buying guns from Canada since 9-11?? And aren't the R's rarer, Why are you strictly looking for an EG?
