Brother in law has a dead air and he uses it for the 308 to the 556 with out any trouble.
It's just as quiet on the 22 rifle as on the larger bore.

Also... you can fire a few 5.56 rounds through your can to clean out the rimfire nasty... I have been told that you can ruin a 22 LR specific can by over pressuring it with 223 or 5.56 ammo. Was I misinformed? No, you were not misinformed. ".22 LR" suppressors are not built to the same standards as suppressors made for high power rounds. This is evidence by the price difference. But that doesn't mean they won't handle the occasional round or two, but they will not hold up to sustained use on a .223.

I’m pretty sure he was referring to the clearing out of a sealed centerfire can after 22 rimfire has been shot through it.
I spoke to a salesman at The Silencer Shop last week and he strongly advised against shooting 22s through a sealed design can due to lead and lube buildup that can’t be readily cleaned out due to not being able to disassemble for cleaning.

Most .22 cans are not rated for centerfire pressures. You'll most likely blow a .22 can to pieces with a .223 round.
