Thinking about getting a fast twist 22-250. I like the 62 Barnes bullet a lot. The Barnes loading info lists a 53 grain as the heaviest. Does anyone have a powder and load for the 62 Barnes or other bullet for fast twist 22-250’s that you like.
Thanks in advance.

4064, IMR 4895, 3031, RL 15.....AR Comp...
I run a 1 in 7 twist barrel on one...normally run 73, 75 and 80 grain bullets in that one..
have a box of the 88 grain ELD whatever... but haven't loaded those yet...
rain kinda ruins the enjoyment of going to the range...and this time of year its raining a lot....

I might be able to email them Barnes boys, see what they have to allow on using that bullet-twist combination.

R15 pushing 75gr Amaxes to about 3200. Got sub 3” groups at 700 yards with that one. DRT Whitetail at 410 yards too.

Nosler has 22-250 data for fast twist barrels and heavy bullets: https://load-data.nosler.com/load-data/22-250-remington/ There isn't any data there for mono-metal bullets but it should get you started. Hodgdon has load data for the 62 gr Barnes on their website; start here: http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/rifle

8 twist will stabilize a 70 grain TSX. I could stabilize them in my .223 9 twist with a 26 inch barrel. They will not stabilize in the 20 inch barrel though, I can't quite get enough velocity to turn the RPMs.
DO NOT over look using the little 32-35 grain hornet bullets with Blue Dot. You should be able to get MOA out of them and decently quiet loads that will vaporize small varmints.

I love the 62 grain TTSX out of my 1 in 8 twist 22-250. I use Varget, I'd have to look up the load if you wanted it. With WLR primers and Win brass I get 3500 fps out of my 23" barrel.

Never used the 62 as the 55 TTSX had the same POI as the 75gr. A-Max to 300yds.
RL 15 is my vote.

Thanks in advance. Whittaker's Special Run RAR, 1:8 36.0 Varget, CCI 200 primer, 2.435 COAL, 3,411 fps average. If that seems slow, I should note that this rifle has run slower than book velocities with every bullet & powder combo I've tried. Anyway, this load did kill a hog & a jackrabbit, so there's that. I haven't run the 53 TTSX's in this rifle, yet, but I'd have to imagine they'd do well, too. FC

Superformance and the 62gr Barnes has worked well on Wyoming antelope. I don't have the load data in hand but it's in the latest Hornady manual. Other powder shot ok but Superformance gave better velocity and accuracy in my RAR from Whittakers.

Here's an unusual load for a fast twist 22-250. I bought some surplus bullets at Midway, advertised as 80 gr. Well, they weighed 75 gr. and research showed them to be Hornady TAP bullets for their SBR (short barrel rifle) ammo. I haven't killed anything yet. But at .22-250 speeds, think they'd be pretty destructive. I was surprised at how well they shot. Rifle is a Mohawk with Shilen 8 twist barrel. These bullets are not available for reloaders. I have a couple hundred, got a few from a Fire contributor. I know, I know, three shot group.... DF

They don’t look like sleek LR bullets, do they. You’d think I’d be reporting how they performed on critters. But as a Loony, I’m off on other projects. Need to check out terminal performance, pushing them faster than designed. DF

70 gr NAB will be interesting in a fast twist 22-250.
Are you getting decent groups with the 64 BSB?
I even bought factory ammo to see if Nosler can get them shooting better than I can. Haven’t tried them yet.
Terminal performance is reportedly very good. I got some 62 Fed Fusion surplus bullets. They shoot much better groups and terminal performance is pretty close. Accurate bullets are interesting bullets. I’m not a 64 BSB fan.
